Less is more: functionality above all In Scandinavian design, everything revolves around simplicity and durability. No unnecessary frills, but an interior that is smart and functional. Choose clean lines and neutral shades such as white, beige and soft pastels. Bring the light inside In the Far North, daylight is scarce, so Scandinavian design cleverly makes use of natural light. Large windows, light colours and natural reflections maximize brightness. Choose a colour palette of white, light grey or greige and let it return in floors and furniture. Light wood types such as oak or ash provide extra warmth without weighing down the space.
