Do you love slipping under the covers in a calm, relaxing space? Then it’s time to transform your bedroom into a true oasis of tranquillity. Say goodbye to clutter and unnecessary stimuli, and hello to a better night’s sleep. With these 5 calming tips, you’ll be sleeping like a baby in no time!

1. Choose the right colours

Loud reds or other bright colours don’t exactly create the calm you need for a good night’s sleep. Instead, opt for neutral tones such as beige, taupe, earthy shades or pastels, and go for a ton-sur-ton look. This means combining different shades of the same colour throughout your interior. The result? An instantly more peaceful bedroom.

Extra tip: paint your bedroom wall in one tone and mix and match with furniture and accessories in similar shades. To add extra warmth, incorporate a rug or cushions in an accent colour.

Our favourite? Terracotta – a versatile shade that suits many interior styles. Discover how to combine this colour.

2. Warmth under your feet

A wooden floor is a true eye-catcher, not just in the living room. It adds warmth, texture and character to your interior, creating a cosy and inviting bedroom atmosphere. What’s more, a wooden floor feels pleasantly warm underfoot, just like carpet, especially when combined with underfloor heating. Here too, opt for lighter tones and choose an oak floor to make the space feel larger. Continue the wood look in your bed frame or other bedroom elements to create a cohesive, harmonious style.

Extra tip: are unwanted noises keeping you awake? With a sound-reducing underlay, you won’t be disturbed by creaking floors at night.

3. Let there be light

Not only your interior, but also your lighting plays a key role in your bedroom. Make sure to let in as much natural daylight as possible during the day, and opt for soft, warm lighting in the evening that you can dim. For a cosy atmosphere, it’s best to use multiple lamps throughout the room rather than relying on one bright central light.

Extra tip:  want to dim your lights before going to sleep without getting out of bed? You can! Choose lights that can be controlled with a remote or via your smartphone.

4. A tidy space creates a calm mind

A book you once read in bed, clothes on the floor… If you want to turn your bedroom into a zen retreat, it’s best to avoid leaving things lying around. Upgrade your storage and choose bedside tables with compartments or a wardrobe with plenty of space. Use baskets and decorative boxes to store smaller items like chargers. Just remember: less is more, keep it minimal.

Extra tip:  the space under your bed is often underused, so make the most of it for extra storage.

5. Green friends

Nothing is as calming as nature. If you want to enjoy a good night’s sleep, it’s best to surround yourself with plants. They not only improve the air quality in your bedroom, but also add extra character to your interior.

Extra tip:  ideal spots for plants include the windowsill, a wall shelf or a wide headboard behind the bed.

Sleep tight!

A well-balanced colour palette gives your interior character. The right shade makes all the difference.
